i'm thinking about buying a second ATV. the SP800 seems to be getting 50/50 responses in the topic i posted last week. i might take a stab at the new Honda just for the fact that i haven't owned one since 1988 (300 4X4- was a GREAT ATV). the new Honda seems to have almost everything my Sportsman has. i just don't know if i NEED $16,000 tied-up in ATV's. seems kinda rediculous.
anyways, i'm glad you noticed the brake problem BEFORE someone got hurt Daddycool!...... and WELCOME to the Forum!

I don't mean offense to anyone, I understand your frustration...but you need to look at this from the big picture.
Polaris did plenty of testing on this machine. Fact of the matter is that an individual componet supplied by someone else is causing a problem. It is a BIG problem, but Polaris fixed it immediately. The problem is not that it wasn't tested though.
At the dealer show they had a whole handful of 500EFI's to ride, and dealers beat the crap out of them all day in 100 degree wheather. No problems... If a supplier has a defect, Polaris should fix it. They did. I'm dissapointed there were problems too.
Something to keep in mind is that most salesman in larger dealerships don't know about recalls & such, you need to talk to the service department. The dealer should update every unit in inventory, and should notify current owners to have their updated as well. Now, a dealer that doesn't actually check to see if the update is done when you specifically asked them to is a completely different story. Bad dealer...find a new one.
But you guys are taking it way too personal.
As far as motor damage, it is definitely something to consider if your coolant was boiling over. Have your dealer let Polaris know about it and make a note with your vin # that way if future problems develop related to this problem, it can be traced back even if it's out of warranty.
For everyone saying go buy a Honda instead... That's a good laugh. 10 years ago they had a superior product it terms of quality, but now days they have just as many problems if not more than everyone else.
