Do you mean the GMC Envoy xl and Trailblazer ext? The Envoy XL tows 7000lbs and the Trailblazer ext is is between 6k and 7k depending on the motor.

Yep, thats it. Wow impressive towing. 4.2 inline six. I drove one seems nice.

the straight 6 is the pinicle of motor technology, 85% of the torque is produced at idle

be carefull with GM products though, with them heading for bankruptcy they might evoke your warrenty for a while

Any inline six is going to be a great motor. The 4.2 produces alot of torque. GM is not going bankrupt. They are laying off 30K employees and are going to concentrate on the major factories. This will give them a $5billion increase for the next year or so. They are just downsizing. Ford laid off alot of people at the beginning of the year also but they are far from being bankrupt.

what about them ford I-6 them things are the best motor ever made imo.

Yes the Ford inline is indistructable. So is the Jeep inline six. Any inline six will be more reliable than a v8 or v10.

The inline six performs very well in the trailblazer/envoy line, but IMO the 5.3L V8 is a much better choice for towing if you can afford the gas prices. The ext line on both suvs offers the 5.3L now I believe.

GM is finally doing what it should have done 15 years ago, get rid of all of the overlap it has on its products. Do we really need 4 of the same vehicle with different badging, minor grill changes, and over expensive yet unimpressive interior upgrades. A good number of GM's products, most notably nearly the entire buick line, is already made in Mexico. Ford has been producing engines in Mexico for quite a while now, and most are now made there.

is fuel economy of importance? do you like 14-15MPG?......because that's all you're going to get with that Envoy.

why not look at the new Pontiac Torrent? excellent looks, good MPG, excellent ergos inside. did i mention it's hot looking? LOL!

testdrive one with the wife before you make a fatal error. the Envoy is a ANCIENT dinasour SUV that doesn't sell.......wonder why it has $8000 in REBATES and discounts?

if you have to tow 5000lbs once a weekend (that's only 52 times per year), why not buy a gas guzzler truck AND a FUEL EFFICIENT Torrent/Equinox/CRV/Element/Vibe/Highlander for the misses every-day needs.

just a thought.
