sdbowhunter,

The Heelclicker will give you better low to mid without effecting top speed in a pos or neg way. An EPI clutch kit will give you better mid to high and increase topspeed about 1-3mph.

sp500ho will out perform anything in the 500cc class

I've heard the Suzuki Vinson 500 is the quickest 500 class out there.

One thing people seem to over look is tire pressure. Tire pressure plays a huge role in acceleration and top end.

Remember when you were a kid riding a bicycle with low tires and how hard it was to go fast compared to tires fully inflated. Same is true with an ATV.

If i run 3 pounds of pressure in my O2 sportsman HO it accelerates slow and tops out at about 54mph. But if i run up to 9 pounds of pressure it tops out at 60 on the spedo and gets up to speed much much more quickly. In effect tire pressure may be the simplest cheapest mod out there!!!

I can't speak for all vinsons, but I have raced 1. We were pretty much side by side, however, I ended up winning on top speed, by a tad. If we had of raced again it might have won, but we didn't. It really was close though, so close I would call it even. Vinson is the only thing I've raced in the 500cc class that ever kept up with me (utility bikes)

Now, for the grizz 660 vs the sp500ho. I took my father-in-law to buy an atv this weekend. Coincidently, he ended up buying but what? An 06 grizzy, in blue. As I've said earlier, it is not a comparison! It will outrun me from the word GO! The griz will beat a sp700 in a drag, so you know a 500 aint going to do it. I have riden a couple of grizzly's in the past, however, they were friends, so I didn't really try anything intense. I got quite a bit of seat time on his this weekend and I have to report, They are pretty impressive machines when it comes to throttle response and from lowend power right on through topend. In the mud and and really difficult trails, hands down the sportsman is the best. Also, after a couple of hours on the grizz, you feel more beat than my sportsman. Other than the power, the one thing that really stood out was it has much better shields or splash guards around the front tires and engine to keep the driver dry!

I'm guessing all those here who are trying to see how fast an atv will go, are young and or slightly retarded. One flip and it's over. By the way, what is a heel clicker??

Actually I'm 28, however, you may consider that young, but top speed isn't that important to me, or as much as take off and midrange, but you have to try it once in a while.

Heelclicker is a clutch kit designed for polaris machines. I really helps bottom end and midrange, however, doesn't help or hurt topend. You will get to topend faster though. More than anything you'll notice it pulls much harder in high range. You will hardly use low range with the heel clicker kit.

im far from retartded, and i am 42 years of age,,,,,without testing the limits of your bike, how can you fully be aware of its capabilitys?

without those who do test the limits of these bikes, how would anyone be able to make an informed decision on what bike they may want to purchase?

are you telling me when you decided to purchase a quad you simply walked in without any prior information about that bike that was derived from riders who owned that particular machine?

or did you make inquirys as to its performance, reliability, whether it was mechanicaly sound, handling?

did you think folks derived all of this info by simply putting around? if all we wanted to do is Putt around we would all own Golf Carts

i have the 05 vinson and it will run 62mph with stock tires. my 27s cut the top speed to 52mph. ppope, was the vinny you raced an auto are a manual. the reason i ask is because i raced a 650 praire thru a 1/4 on dirt and he only out run me by 1 quad length. i think the manual vinny would spank the 500 ho. i think the sportsman 700efi would out run the grizzly also. ive seen a praire 650 out run the grizzly and ive out run the 650 praire with the sportsman 700 efi. the prarie i outrun did have 27" 589's but i had the 26" stock pxt's. but i embarrased him on sand and pavement.
