Default Oil additives

Do NOT mix oils together or use additives. Go with a full synthetic.

Also do NOT use fuel additives in 2 strokes unless its 2 stroke specific.
HEAT is used to remove water in the fuel system. Isioprophal (sp?).

I agree do not mix or add additives to your oil. I switched from the polaris brand 0w40 to Amsoil full synthetic 0w40 , its almost like a race oil . The only additive i would recomend is PJ1 octane booster in your tank man that stuff gives it some xtra kick ! Works excellent!

I use fuel stabolizer in my all my gas. I also add octane booster to my scrambler. I find the two strokes run better off of high octane gas where the four strokes the premium pump gas works fine. my scrambler is a 2 stroke but the gas and oil is seperate with the oil injection. I also use the Amsoil 0w40 in my 05 arctic cat 500 and 05 predator. Works great.

Seafoam ---> Yep , I do think there products do what they claim .

Here is a twist for you , synthetic oils and high lift cams and springs don't get along at all . Most all of your cam ginders will specify NO SYNTHETICS with their valve train components . ( This is for overhead cam engines with rocker arms in particular )

High octain does seem to help 2 strokes especailly if its modded.

Its recommended Premium for piped machines and a must with porting/head shaved higher compression machines.

Default Oil additives

Oil additives are important enough that people who use oil in bulk containers may notice a usage of oil in their engine between change intervals. The reason is, even in drums of oil with mixing devices the additives aren't mixed equal throughout the drum. This is why someone may notice oil usage from a Lube shop. Going back to quart bottles will normally stop the oil usage.

I have used synthetic oil since 1979 and still use them. Todays oil are a lot better than years ago. I owned a 1971 Citroen SM, The cams went flat at 72K miles. The Citroen dealers reson was using petrolium oil instead of synthetic. Replaced cams with good use cams and started using synthetic (European Synthetic). No more problems.
Was using Rotella oil in my 1982 Suburban Diesel. At 120K miles oil usage was up to 1qt every 3K miles. Changed to Castrol Syntec 5/50 and engine stopped using oil and moved change intervals to 8K miles, engine lived to 390K miles.

Every body has their war stories, these are three of mine.
