Pounding on it like you did right out of the box, you may have glazed your belt . Be nice to it for a while and it will be nice to you a year down the road.

I have an 05 with@ 700mi on it. It will hit 70mph sometimes, 65mph most times. The 700 has the areodynamics of a brick so a good wind usually prevents me from hitting 70mph . But if you can hit 6200 rpm in high you should hit 70mph.

Thanks for all the help guys. I took the swap lite off and put the stock tires back on it. It rides much better on the hard road with the stock tires. I might keep them on. It is a bit faster but I still cant get close to 65MPH. I get 60 sometimes. I am going to take it to the dealership and have them check it out. I will let you all know what they say.

My 2003 600 Sportsman will hit 60-62. But I've only done that about 5-6 times in 3 years. Too scary on that big thing at that speed. It will get to 40-45 in good time. Make sure that the white plastic nut is fully tightened on the primary clutch. If it backs off even a little, it will prevent top end speed. Never happened to me, but that's what I've learned on these boards, so I'd check it.

BTW, did you buy it new with the big tires or did you put them on after you bought them? Go up a step or two with a new primary spring ($17-$20) and try heavier weights. That's what I did. Makes a huge difference.

I have an 04 700efi w/ 26" mud sharks on it. I can hit about 64mph with it constantly. That speed comes from gps and the bike. I've had it up near 68 when the state police caught me and my wife on mine as we were crossing U.S. 19 across Meadow River. That cop gave us all hell. Especially me due to I was the only one breaking the speed limit of 65. The others were on 500 atp's.
