Default Same problem

I posted a new thread so as to not take this one over. sorry. Thanks for the response. I have the clutch cover off and the belt is not touching on either side. The secondary clutch does spin but the primary does not touch the belt sides. the belt appears to be tight though . It is very hard to shift even if I turn off the ATV. When its trying to creep you cannot shift. My nephews 800 shifts so smooth but mine new never did shift super smooth like his. At times it will shift through all stages but 90% of the time I have to turn it off to shift or really work with it. The only way the secondary clutch can turn is with the belt on, I hope thats correct?

If its hard to shift with machine off, then you could be looking at something other than clutch problems,
BUT generally creeping in gear is a clutch related problem OR sometimes if an aftermarket or wrong belt is used, plus are you able to stop the rear clutch BY HAND while idling in neutral OR not? IF you can't then I still think its clutch related problem, maybe with the front clutch one way bearing OR belt? PLUS I would check the front motor mount for separating. If front of engine can move,it can put a bind on clutches causing creeping, hard shifting also. OPT

I can stop the secondary with my foot on it. Not sure that I would want to try and stop it with my hand!!!! With my foot it stops easily without taking much tread off the bottom of my shoe. It makes sense to me that if it is turning that shifting would be a problem.

most likely it might be the one way bearing or fiber washers in the primary worn out if it has any amount of miles on it. it should not be turning that hard or fast(secondary clutch) if it's working correctly.

If it took some tread off your shoe to stop it, I do believe it would take several layers of skin off your hand if you tried! Smart guy for not trying! Like Stendori said check the clutches!! Shouldn't turn fast enough that you couldn't stop by hand in neutral unless you have a problem! OPT
