proXpilot; have you thought about starting a club to work with the local businesses and governments to have the laws changed? Convince the businesses that ATV’s cost lots of money and can mean a great deal of revenues for them thru gas (& gas taxes), meals, lodging, etc (more taxes). I have seen small towns where on certain days there are literally more machines in town than there are residents of the town. All it takes is a proactive attitude by the local businesses and governments. Maybe set up an ATV day or event to draw crowds into town. I know all that is easier said than done, but that is the way to get the ball rolling and is a whole lot more effective than just blaming the cops that are doing their job.

 

Now think about that statement. The cop was doing exactly what you just suggested. He was protecting the rights of people, and laws of that area. How do you know that someone else living in that area didn't call and objected to your illegal riding? He was protecting the rights of others. His attitude may not have been the best, but that's another subject.

 

I have respect for the law but they can let the badge go to there heads, I pave roads for a living and we were paving a city street for the city in this town and a motorcycle cop for the city pulls up and gives me a big line how hes going to cite me up for not having flaggers on this road and was tring to tick me off to start something else. The city inspector had it all ok'ed what we were doing, come to find out the cop was worked up because he set his foot down in the asphalt and scuffed his pretty boot up.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] I have had some good and bad dealings with cops when I wasn't in trouble which wasnt often. lol I do belive that it is certain ones and on a bad day.

 

I am new here but just in case you haven't noticed the icon. Alot of you are right, the badge goes to the head. Although you can't let that control one self. I have been doing this awhile. I ride atvs. I like to have fun also. Yes there is also times I have rode my atv on the rode. Alot of my buddies I ride with they always like to go riding with me. In fact I have a blue light mounted on my atv. In kentucky if the weather has declared a state of emergency due to snow then atvs is what we use at our PD. When I know the weather might be going for the worse I will take my atv to work. Last year we had to use it. I try not to be a BUTT to people. I have always said to get respect you need to give respect. Now every now and then there are certain people out there that you need to let them know that they can't be doing certain things. This is a forum and freedom of speech is a right. As long as its clean. I hope my saying this dosen't make you think you can't say certain things just you know it might not be a bad idea just to check to see who all out there really has the same interests. In my opinion should atvs be aloud on the rode? Yes when equiped right. You don't have to wear a helmet for a motorcycle. Same with seatbelts. If your going to enforce one law you need to enforce all the others.

 

It seems that if the person who started this review would of got hit by a car from the rear..witch i wouldn't want to see happen.. But if it did..no matter how many feet away from his home.. A so call COP would most likly give him first ad untill medicl help arrived. Now if you don't like COPS.. Don't call 911 EVER ..for help..Then most of us will beleave your story. Untill you work on a screaming patent ..in pain with ribs sticking out of his sides in a ER do to back / neck injury..open wounds..including eye ***** hanging out.. the first guy most of the time on the seen is a COP that is some what trained or is trained as a E.M.T. . So if you want to knock the same guy who most likly will be giving you mouth to mouth to keep you or your wife or child a live go a head. Knock him ...But in the real world for what the cop did was just trying to keep your butt off of my ER table. So hate the guy.

 

Follow the rules. Change the rules if you don't like them. Other than that , STFU.

I do same thing before happen to me is cop bull$hit sometime. When my house ride on road about 1/4 mile to off road dirt then before get dark go to home ride on road only near home 1/4 mile cop get me ticket that dumb.I told cop near my home only had 1/4 mile he said wheave he give me ticket hate it $ 75.00 suck it waste my of money sometime happen this $hit
