I'm real good about letting my Magnum warm up, but it seems to take an awful long time to get warm enough not to stall out on take off. I have to be real careful about loading and unloading so it doesn't stall out halfway up/down the ramp, besides just being annoying. Once it's warm, it couldn't be better. I bet it needs a good 7 minutes of me just sitting there. Is this normal? Thak god I live in the south with this particular bike, cuz if I was any further north, I'd be walkin'.

Might try running a slightly richer jet or raising the needle a notch or two.

What machine do you have? My 425 Magnum will idle and run smoothly after only about 30 seconds of warm up. My 325 trail boss needs approximately 2 minutes of idling before it will run right.

Let's start with the easiest things first.

1. Drain the carburetor
2. Adjust the idle speed
3. Adjust the low speed idle mixture
4. Adjust the half choke so that it actually works

Magnummudman - I have the 325

Thor - I can drain the carb
I can adjust idle screw
How do I adjust the low speed idle mixture
How do I check the half choke settings

It cranks right up with the choke on and then after about thirty seconds, it wants to die with the half choke on. Then when you take the choke off, it sounds better, but it still wants to die unless you keep a bit of pressure on the throttle.
Could this have anything to do with the slack in the throttle cable I've heard ya'll talking about?

I have the same problem with my Boss. It takes a while to warm up in the cold or in damp weather. The dealer says it's common on the newer 325 engines. I also have the same prob w/ the choke...starts on full, sputters on half, then dies. I guess it's not a big deal. I found out that if you start it w/ full choke, let it get going, give it a healthy dose of gas, and you should be ok. This is strange, since my Magnum 500 takes less than a minute with only half choke in 30 degree weather...Go figure!
