BEWARE of the HAWKEYE. DANGEROUS
I spent day riding new trails up here in Tilamok forest in Oregon, and I have measured up to 40 degrees side tilt going 30 degrees up hill with my sway bar removed. Worked nice.

Speaking of illegals spoting in Arizona ATV scenic rides, .... in last pool on immigration 40 % of the people said it coud be a problem. The other 60 % said: Yo no habla Ingles.
Now is that funny or is that funny?

I am not sure what you mean electronic throttle? I will check my cable but I had not considered it was loose or broken since it is only 2 months old. I will check and reply back on the findings.
Considering removing the shim and taking it to the dealer for the rattle but I am concerned they will just screw it up worse....strip bolts etc.
Anyone consider larger tires so the thing doesnt sound like its revving its guts out?? I am not sure where to even begin finding rims with the correct bolt pattern.
FYI- Love my Sportsman 400 but couldn't convince the wife to take my 400 so I could buy a 500HO. I just cant believe that for another 1k we could have had a Sportsman 450.

Just checked my cable and I see that the reference to "electronic throttle control" is on the throttle lever housing. In cars this means throttle by wire (electronics) as compared to a cable. This can't be the case with the Hawkeye as the choke and throttle cables enter the carb and are attached so I dont know why its like this.
Just grab the throttle cable near where the adjuster (midway between throttle lever and dash) and pull to make it rev up. Makes no sense to me why or how it has electronic throttle control if it does this. This is totally opposite from what should happen. Going to check the manual since it says "see manual" for more info on the electronic throttle control....
?????????????????? Anyone who can explain why this is????????

It seems that POLARIS IS LISTENING! This is a note directly from an Engineer there.
Thanks for the e-mail. I just had a short conversation with our ATV service coordinator, for all model year 2007's the sub frame and a-arm supports have been up graded. In addition, there is a service kit available for his older model Hawkeye available through his dealer. Please let me know if he has trouble getting the service kit and I will refer him to some one who can help him directly.
Good Stuff!

Thanks for the update.
So they ackowledge the problem but are too cheap to step up and provide the kit under recall. Basically we have to buy it and increase our investment even more in this machine!!!
Now is the time to apply even more pressure. Write your congressman! Write to the 5:00 news! Hell write to your mom she probably hasn't heard from you in awhile, but write!!!
If we keep applying pressure they will be forced to recall due to the bad publicity!!

There is a public safety commision that this can be reported to. There was a recall on the sportsman that i got a notice about. They would go up on fire after you parked it. P.S. did you get yours covered under warraty.
Thanks Toz

The Electronic Throtte Control is ONLY a safety feature. It monitors what the cable is doing in relation to what the throttle lever is doing. If you release the throttle and the cable does not follow, the ETC will kill the ignition. If you'd like to test this, just use the cable adjuster to put a lot of slack in the throttle cable and then go for a short ride. You should find that the engine will die a lot.
I haven't follow this thread recently, and it seems to have gotten off topic a few times. For the one member, most of these forums are a place to discuss problems, not satisfaction, which will make it appear that there are nothing but problems with these ATVs. The fact is that the number of satisfied customers greatly exceed the number of dissatisfied ones. I haven't had any problems with my two ATVs, and can only complain that the suspension is too stiff on the rear of both of them. Not such a big deal.

I agree With Sheepdog and all the rest,,Our Hawkeye has taken a beating and keeps going great, We dont abuse it but we ride the FAr out of it and Also we Maintain it well and keep it checked out , You Cant Jump em High or do Double jumps on Em or do table tops or Backflips And you cant run 60mph on em either,,If youve ever crashed at 50 mph on a four wheeler it aint no fun and that four wheeler coming after you while your tumbling Hurts Alot.
