The AWD system does not help chew up hills, no one said that. Its that it doesn't help avoid it. If you climb a steep hill with 2 wheels driving, Even though they are not spinning the are gripping a lot harder than if all 4 where positively driving. Im not talking spinning ruts, its the fact that they leave more noticable marks, enough to **** some people off that spend thousands a year on private roads. The AWD system requires some slip, not much but enough that youll leave prints

I really would love a answer to the question posed It would make climbing steep hill's better.

There is no way to fool the system to engage. The 12v only powers the electro magnet which holds the armature plate and hillard clutch from turning so the hub will engage. By sending power to the magnet all the time would be the same as leaving the switch on all the time. Engagement is mechanical The out put shaft that goes to the front Diff turns all the time as do the axles(out board hubs only) and as long as the axle is turning the same speed as the front hub there there is no engagement but if the axle turns slightly faster than the front hub the rollers in the hillard cause it to lock up and engage the hub. It's hard to explain but if you saw and understood how the hillard clutch works you would understand......
