How important is it to fix the clicking or clunking clutch?
I have the clutch noise on my 1997 425 magnum, think it is those spider buttons that everyone has been talking about. How crutial is it to have that problem fixed? What kind of a project is it? It's the noise that goes away on idle and when there is load on the engine is a bit more prevalent.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Non EBS buttons are $3.00 each, take off the clutch cover, pull off the secendary clutch, turn it upside down, remove the snap ring and the helix will turn and come up out of clutch. the spring will lift out, see what holes it is in before you remove it. Youl see three buttons under helix, change them, check your helix for exessive wear, clean it all up and put it back together, turn the helix clockwise 1/3 turn then push it onto shaft and put snap ring on, this takes some strength, might need another person for snap ring duties, I've done it myself but it is better with help.

You should look into your belt condition. I just had something like that too and I found chuncks of my belt laying on my head. It was a rythmic tapping, clicking, or clunking that didn't happen at idle and got faster the faster you drove or revved it up. The belt had a tail that was ripped and it clunks when it hits the pvt case.

Do you know if the scrammy can be swapped with the clutch on the 425, I got a guy that has one in good shape and thought that would be easier then fixing those buttons, I don't have a good gear puller and would probably make matters worse trying to fix the buttons.
Thanks.
Thanks.
