Default 06 500 H.O clutch kit

I believe I've read this not too long ago, but can someone clarify this for me. I read that since my bike is an H.O, that I can install the clutch kit from a 700 or 800 EFI? The engagement RPM is suppose to be closer to idle. I find mine engages around 1500 RPM and I would prefer to engage close to idle. Would this also increase my pulling power while in low gear? I'm concerned with possible belt troubles if/when I have to pull a 1200 lb moose out of the bush.

If there are other solutions or ideas I'd appreciate the help,

It depends on which kit and which springs you use. For a lower than stock engagement, with added benefits of pulling as well as lowend to midrange power, I'd suggest you go with a Heel Clicker clutch kit and use your stock blue/green primary spring. If you need more details on this let me know. I'll tell you where to get a discount and where to get more info.

yes, you can install the clutch from an 800 EFI. It will work! Your low gear will be alot lower giving you some pretty good power when in low. When in high, engagement was pretty low, although i am using a polaris white spring. Mine suffered alot in the midrange after going with the 800 efi clutch. My wifes stock 500HO now beats me by 2-3 lengths. I may need to experiment with springs or even a clutch kit.

I just re-read the original post. I missed the part about the 800efi clutch the first time. Yes, the 06 800 primary will work and it will ultimately give you the lowest engagement of anything. It is a bit more pricey than the HC kit though. The HC kit will be less than $200. The 800efi primary which is also on the 500efi along with the proper belt will be at least double that, $400. If money is not a problem, go with the 06 800 primary.
