Yeah, Stampers is one of the "bashers" I spoke of earlier. As you can see he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. Polaris will not release the "5000 EFI" until sometime during the 2008 model year. Watch Stampers fall for this just like he fell over Niagra Falls (head injury) and then he fell asleep and landed on the shift and 1 keys on his keyboard.

Thanks Zircon, Yes I really like Polaris ATV's and have had good service from them. I also have to admit that there are some other outstanding machines out there from most all the ATV manufacturers. Polaris stuff breaks just like everybody elses does. If you dig around in any forum here you will find they all have there faults just as we humans also do. Most any problem can be resolved if you have enough of these three elements: Time, Money and Patience.
The bad part is when any one of the three is missing it's very easy to run out of the other two. But to get back on topic , I would agree that Polaris must have the 500EFI issues taken care of. Like always, if you do your homework and use good common sense you will find a machine that 's right for you in most situations, be it Polaris or whatever brand. Let us know what you decide rtboy.

I have a 500EFI and love it. I had the False HOT that was fixed in 30 min from the dealer. I haven't had the stalling issue. I've heard it's either related to the cable or ECU, the cable it sounds like just needs to be tightened and the ECU there is now a fix for but that was only for early models. Its been a while since the 500 EFI has been out it's probably safe to say the bugs are worked out and I have a feeling the 500EFI is going to be Polaris's baby for a while. I have a feeling that with the new 450 and 500EFI this year that the 500HO carb is on it's way out in a year or so. the 700 EFI is nice i've heard but more thristy than the 500 EFI.

I have about 1700 miles on my 06 500efi and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I had the resistor fix done and it has stalled one time, but have had quite a few near stalls, but i'm going to get the ecm re-flashed next week so that will take of that. As far as the melting plastic it is a very easy fix. Just look on the right side of the quad by the heat shield in the middle of motor and see if the heat shield is touching the heat tape. If it is then just cut part of the heat shield off and put more tape on it and it is fixed. I would buy another in a heartbeat and you won't be dissapointed because I just traded a 05 700efi for the 500efi and the power difference wasn't that much more on the 700. The fugi 500 will last alot longer also. Good luck.
