Sportsman70003 what changes if any using the 800 primary? I think the bearing in the secondary needs to be changed, it might be adding excessive heat, I really dont use low gear only when towing or working which is not very often. I also have a bad habit of doing holeshots rather frequently. Thank you for your advice.

I guess maybe you should start at your Service Shop Manual under Periodic Maintenance Chart. Their you will find that "every 1000 miles" you should be checking the bushings not only in your Primary Clutch but also in your Secondary clutch as well. For some reason Nobody seems to know of this and "how Important" it is to check theses bushings. If not maintained on a regular bases and Most Important the 1 behind the Spider on your Primary clutch. You could be sitting on a Bomb. "It has Nothing to do with any clucth kit". What it has to do with is people Maintaning their Clutches. Your movable sheave on your Primary Clutch, the one that moves back and forth has a bushing pressed in it witch should be Silver in Color and is 1/8 of a inch in thickness. If it is Brass in color than it should be replaced. This bushing behind the spider "when worn causes over heating and crackes" on your sheaves. Left untouched... your clutch could gernade and come right through your side cover. This includes All polaris models "With or "without" Any clutch kit. If you want reliablity it is a must that we as ATV 'ers educate each other on the importance of our machines to get the most reliability and performance just by simple Periodic Maintanance. Some folks say "Well I have 1500, 1800, 2000 miles on my machine and haven't touched my clutch"... Well Good Luck when you are picking clutch parts out of Leg...Hopefully you will be by a Hospital..Not 25 miles in on a trail. Check your Bushings.. it just might save your life and in return have the most reliable performance you can get out of your machine.
