Default 4x4 problem

I noticed my 4x4 wasnt working in forward so I put it on jacks and tested it.One forward
and the 2 rear wheels sometimes in reverse ,sometimes all work in reverse and it only has rear wheels spinning in forward. The axles are spinning in forward but they arent locked in while in forward.Has anybody had this problem or know what to do to fix it.Thanks in advance
for the help.Oh,This is the 94 400l 4x4.

Dustin

Default 4x4 problem

It turns out the linkage has to be just right or the 4x4 wont engage.First jack the atv up.Then you need to remove the linkage after putting it in gear.Move the shifter while the atv is running and the 4x4 button is engaged.Fumble with the shifter until the front wheels engage.
Then you have a idea of where the linkage should be. lengthen or make shorter the linkage
until its about right.Test to see if it engages. If not turn it (linkage) in or out one or two turns
until it engages properly. If this is the front you are working on right now then HI,and
Reverse(of course if you have the overide on) will have 4x4.Then you need to do the same with LOW since it has its own linkage.Very precise process to get it working. If you dont have 4x4 after this fumbling with the tansmission shifter should engagge it.I dont think this applies to your problem though.
