These are the same price in Canada.

What are the pros and cons of each?

bf is a v twin more power, and faster. it rides stiffer and has easy overheating as far im concerned. the 500 is a proven engine but i hear the efi on the 500 has had issues. you have to pull a handle to get the front diff. to lock where the 500 is a one button push for all wheel all the time. so far my buds machine is been (bf650) a decent wheeler.

The sp700 would be a better comparison to the BF650 in relation to power. Everything else is pretty much better on the sp500.

I got rid of an 03 Griz and got an 06 500HO carb. and so far I really like it, it's not as fast as the Grizz, but it does just as good or better 4-wheelin, and it starts with no problem even without the choke in the cold. For the price the BF is the better deal, when your mud-in and climbing over big rocks and downed trees you don't need the speed so if you don't care about that the 500ho is a good choice.

We have 2 500EFI's and love them. Our buddy was thinking of getting new quads and rode our 500's and loved them. We had an issue with melting plastics with the Polaris so he ended up buying 2 new BF650I's. They are good quads but not a real comparison to the Polaris. As far as power the BF is awsome, But the ride, storage, tires, handling doesn't come close to the Polaris. After he got the BF's they have had problems with the 4wd, blown head gaskets, very hard to fill all the way full of gas and very hard starting when cold. With hindsight my buddy says that he wished that he would have gotten the Sportsman instead even though they were about 500 USD more than the BF.
