Default Belt Deflection?

what makes you think your b. deflection is off? you said its around the right messurement right? unless your racing this machine from what you said it sounds close enough. if your belt is above a little and your machine isnt creeping, nor is it bogging out of the hole it should be fine. just my 2 cents again.

Default Belt Deflection?

The reason I ask is that I had to change the buttons and belt and have read that belt deflection is more important than lets say center to center distance and offset. I'm sure I will have to play with the shims and the clutch will need to be readjusted. I'm just looking for the best performance and belt life out of my clutch. I thank everyone for their input.

Default Belt Deflection?

fullthrottle,it is nice that name by the way, yes! belt deflection is very important cauze it decide
if your belt will drop fullydown the cam sheeves to use most of the clutch out,the helix you might
to have is more important than the rest,to fully climb the belt on the primary clutch (til the top),hope that sound correct...
you have the remove a shim to get more belt deflection, there severals wide size through them, get a combo set
to get the right belt clearances you need then (ex: 020' with 030').

Default Belt Deflection?

A little hard following you. In general though I believe I understand what your saying. In replacing the secondary buttons I found that the helix was a little bit grooved on 2 of the 3 (Ramps) the helix for lack of a better word. Why is it that 1 ramp is not grooved they all ride over the same buttons? And do you think I should sand the grooves out of the helix? It is the EPI sport utility clutch kit.

Default Belt Deflection?

you mean the helix is wear out?
if the buttons were bad the helix might be damaged,,
if you do sand the ramp, that will change the degrees profile of the helix.
