05 700 EFI Problems
I bought a Dale Jr. Special Edition and have had several problems. I have 80 miles and 11.3 hours on my quad. I just recently went riding and was going through mud and water and both inside front cv boots ripped. The guards appeared to have pushed into the boots and ripped them. Also, my clutch housiing seal had to be replaced. The belt housing was filling up with water whenever I rode in water. Lastly, the back end plastic section, where it bolts to the frame under the seat has cracked. The manufacturers warranty has covered these things, but with this little time on it I am questioning alot of things. Has anyone else had these problems, and/or does anyone know of other problems I might see in the future with this quad.

Ridemhard...
Sorry to hear the problems you're having with your machine.......But if I could make a suggestion to you for preventing one of your problems from reoccuring I highly suggest you get a set of Stick Stoppers to help protect your a-arms and cv's....Good luck and welcome to the boards...

I have the exact same machine as you... the front a-arm guards for '05 are new, and most everyone who owns one has noticed that they were incorrectly positioned too far back and could rub on the c-v boots. You should be sure to adjust the metal tabs on the control arms that they attach too (bend) forward so they will no longer rub. Be careful not to position the left front one too far farward though, or it will rub a hole in the lower radiator hose like mine did! You should be glad to have only little problems like these with your machine, overall mine has been an excellent machine.

Thanks for the info, I just purchased a set of stick stoppers for the front and back. To Dano38, have you had any other problems. I heard of a problem with the muffler melting the plastic. Hasn't happened yet. I am trying to find any problems that might happen so I am aware of them so I can hopefully get them fixed under warranty. I believe my warranty is only 6 months, not very long for spending $6000 on a piece of machinery. If anyone else has any PMS ideas other than what the manual says please let me know. (Preventative Maintenance Service, yes I am in the military if you don't already know the term.)

ridemehard,
I'd got get some heat wrap for your ehaust pipe to eliminate any chance of melting your plastic. If you can afford the down time or an upgrade get your stock pipe cermaic coated to block the heat or get the 800 header and have it coated before you install it. This will also keep your rear flank cooler on a hot days ride.
