make sure you look for a shaft drive machine, air cooled, ~300-400cc, belt or shiftable-- both are about equal in maintenance.

Definitalty a Honda , My buddies SP 700 is in the shop all the time , what a pile of **** , Hondas last the longest even if beaten up , I love my 400ex , I had a 02 foreman and it couldnt be killed , Ied personaly go with a sport quad , in my eyes their alot fuinner to ride ! But its up to you , you can get a 2000-2002 400ex used for about $2500 . Good Luck !

Low voltage, low or dirty hub fluid, dirty air filter. Any of those may be the problem.

For your budget with your requirements there is one good answer: used 400EX. Don't buy a utility quad unless you need racks or other work type stuff.

I have sat on a sport (both Yamaha and Polaris) at the dealer- and me being 6'0, it seemed a little bit small, that is why I was leaning more towards the utility.

How does this look?

Sport or utility depends on what kind of riding you are going to do. But unless you are going to be riding in deep mud or need to tow a trailer, ro do other work stuff, I would suggest a sport quad.

As for your link..the Warrior is a good starter machine. It's rock solid, has been around forever, and has a massive aftermarket. Not quite as fast as the new 400s, 450s, and open classers, but for a long time it was the king of the 4 stoke sport quads.

The Can-Am (Bombardier) Outlander in my opinion is hands down the best quad made. I suggest the 800 but the 650 and 400 dominate their classes aswell. The Outlanders especially the 800 is everything you want in a quad rolled into one.

Im sure alot of people will get on here and tell you Im wrong but dont take my word for it do the research and go test drive one. Youll love it

Let me know where i can get one of those outs 800 for $2500. I would love to buy it and then we will see how tough they are. I have a feeling it won't survive my tests.
