Default first problem on the 800

went about 2 miles and the hot started flashing so stopped to check found nothing and it went right out. went another 12 miles and in that time it came on 3 more times stopping to cool. funny thing is that when it would cool down some the fan would run for a long time when i left the key on to let it cool. i could lay my hands right on the hoses. the coolant wasing coming up high in the tank like it does when it actually overheats. so we turned around and headed for the trucks. the weird thing is going down the trail slowabout 20 or so we went for like 8 miles and it never came on. when i pushed it up to 45 to 50 it came back on. no blockage or restrickion and no overflow. it must be a bad sensor i hope. anyways its at the shop so hopefully by wednseday i'll know.

well i thought that as well or even a water pump but it never overheated. if the thermo was stuck closed it would have. and if pump was bad it wouldnt circulate. hope its a bad sensor. still under warr. so my new dealer can deal w/ it.

well picked up the 800 from the shop today and what a surprise, they said conp. says nothing wrong and couldnt get it to over heat. they said they clean a little mud in the corners of the radi. out and that was it. i was pissed to say the least. i said "i told you that it wasnt overheating and that the hot light was coming on". and of coruse they charged me because they couldnt find anything wrong w/ it. so i guess im stupid or i made up the hot indercator probelm so i could be w/out my wheeler for a couple days. well seeing i wasnt happy they said well leave it here and will keep trying. i said give the damn bill and my key and i'll wont be back. so hear we go again w/ dealers who know nothing about the product their selling. last thing i said was i told you i guessed the sensor was bad, and he said your probably right its getting ready to break. so it makes sence not to replace it right? gees

Sorry to hear about all that. I know how you feel , ive been there too. Like you said , if it does happen for them..............youre the retard. Im sick of it. I would gladly take the loss of nearly a years worth of payments + if i could just dump this thing and not have to deal with Polaris and their dealers.
I guess youll have to carry a cam corder around with you so you can prove yourself. Then i would ask your dealer for the money back you spent on their fieble atempt to figure out what was wrong. Stupid b@stards.

i dont know. this is the first one i've owned w/ any problems at all. none of my older polaris had any isusses. maybe the more high tec there going the more prone to screw ups. i took it out last night w/ the wife on back and beat on it and of course the damn hot wouldnt come on.figues. oh and to make matters even better when i got home from our short vacation, i found out that i turned the power off to my refrigator and lost all of the stuff in it. lol. what a dumb a.. time to go back to work .

Stendori,

I was told by my dealer and Greg at quadivator to pull the fan and shrowd at least 2 times a year if you do any significant mudding. This should eliminate any over heating risk. I also wash my Radiator after each mud run to try to keep it from crudding up at all.
