I put in a 142.5 main jet and the sputtering during acceleration is now gone. I tried replacing the spark plug and air filter prior to that with no luck, it was still running crummy. Now i need to take it in some deep water and see if the sputtering is gone then also or if it's still going to run like crap in a couple feet of water like it always has in the past.

Check to see how your carb vent hose is routed (clear hose) if it exits in front of the right rear tire like mine did move it to a higher/dryer location up in front of the airbox. Make sure the end faces down so water won't get in it and not allow it to vent the carb properly....

My hose appears to connect to the carb in two places, then it's T'd together and runs up near the gas tank somewhere so it should be alright. I splashed it into some water about a foot deep and it ran perfect, i couldn't get to where the deeper and longer puddles were because of a forest fire started by a nasty storm earlier. Now it'll have to wait until this weekend for deep water testing. I'm optimistic, i'm beginning to think that with the rich condition and the engine "flash cooling" from being in the deep water it was giving the engine fits. I hope that's the answer anyways.

Yes the hose loops up above the tank from the carb but you need to locate the end of the hose, mine was pointed right at the right rear tire where water/mud whatever got thrown off the tire right toward the hose. If that gets plugged/restricted or dipped under water you get running problems.
