Default 03 Sportsman 700 Carb - acceleration Probs

I have a 700 Sportsman Carb Version 2003. Lately I am having problems accelerating, it is really getting to the point where it isn't getting around at all. Its like it is flooding out, Sometime I can pull the choke half way out and get enough power to get back to the house. The air filter and crankcase filter seem fine, I took the fuel line loose at the filter and gas seems to be flowing fine, so I am at a loss. I pulled One spark plug and it looked ok, I have yet to pull the other one since it is harder to get to. Has anyone got an ideas or past experiences with this model to draw from? I would appreciate it. The atv is low hours, only 43. I bought it used about a month ago and it has run fine until a week ago.

If your pulling the choke out to get it to run better sounds like your running lean. Have you took the carb apart and cleaned it?

Nope, I havent got that far, not sure If I want to take that on. I may take it back to the dealer I got it used from since it is only been about 30 days. Any tips in case I decide to take this on? I have worked on cars, some motorcycles and small engines, but it has been a while.

If you done some mecanical work pulling the carb won't be that bad. I can have mine off in less than 10 mins. The first thing I suggest is getting a service manual. If you do decied to tackle the job fill free to contact me I had mine off many times playing with the jetting for all my mods.

Are you thinking cleaning may do it, or should I expect to adjust? Also how many adjustments are on this carb?

Since your 700 is still stock I would say just cleaning it would do the trick. How did your plug look when you took it out?

Cathode was in real good shape, there was some traces of carbon. Nothing really bad.

Check the carb boot for cracks and will cause a lean problem as it will suck air........

Noticed tonight that 2 of the bolts that hold the carb are missing. I am betting this has been into before. One of the spark plug wire came apart, this probably wasnt helping. Looks like I may be taking it to the shop tomorrow, at least let them look at it since I am just around the end of my "grace" period.
