I've got 4 miles on my Carlisle 26x11x12 Polaris factory tires, and tore a huge irrepairable hole in a rear. I have two Maxxis BigHorn 26x12x12 tires on order to replace both rear tires. I'm assuming they will fit my stock 08' Sportsman 800EFI black aluminum rims. I don't do any riding on pavement, so not replacing the front tires shouldn't cause too much of a problem size-wise at this time. If I like them as much as everyone else likes them, I'll replace the front ones as soon as I cut one.

I agree they have great traction, but I need a more durable tire. Polaris has to remember, the 800 Sportsman is not made for high-performance trail riding, but more for utility use, and needs tires that can withstand daily use.

AT489s came on mine. Are they the same as the PXT?
Website shows them as 3 ply. Codes are: front 589306 and back 589346. Guess I better make sure I have a good trail side patch kit. I'll be riding mostly Calabogie ... and it's pretty rocky.

Well, I have a set of PXT's that are brand new. The front 2 have the Polaris aluminum rims I'm still lookiing for a pair of rear aluminum rims so I can use the set. I have a set of 27" 589 on ITP wheels on my 500 now. I'm wanting to sell the 589's and run the PXT's. After reading this maybe not???? I don't do any rock riding. Mainly mud and wooded trails. Biggest trail obsticles would be tree roots and ruts.
