Default 05 700EFI dies while driving.

My father inlaw got an 05 700efi that after we run it hard for awhile it will die and not restart untill it cools down, it has done it since new. We've had the dealer look at it multiple times but they can never get it to act up when it is there. Has anyone had this same issue? or does anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

is it overheating or just dying? I had my 06 500efi doing that. It was some wires near the EFI that were loose. So it would be fine until you hit the right bump, then one wire would move and hit the frame or soemthing and caused it to short out. Made it difficult to troubleshoot. Once found, it was a simple fix though. Secure the connection it was good to go. Probably not much help but take a GOOD look at your electrical and make sure everything is WELL connected.

Check the TBAP SENSOR

There is a plug on the top of your fuel injection boot that goes into the engine. The crank case breather tube rubs on this connection causing the wires to break.

Check the CDI ground strap. If this is not grounded properly the engine will not start and cut out at times.

There was a recall on CDI boxes back in FEB 2004 this could also be your problem.

Was the machine purchased new at the dealership? If so they could run the vin number to see if the recall affects you atv.

would either one of these problems cause it to die when hot then allow it to restart after 20 or 30 minutes.

YES

One other thing you can check is your gas tank breather line.

If this is pinched or clogged with dirt the tank will build negative pressure and starve the fuel pump.

Good luck!

if it was punking coolant then chances are that the rad is plugged and its overheating as well.

I checked to make sure the rad. wasnt plugged but we run them pretty hard we dont really get them into mud or anything we use them to run cattle. The only thing that doesnt really make sense to me is if it is a wiring problem why does it start after sitting for 20-30 minutes same with the cdi ground strap or the tbap sensor.
