Default Four wheel drive fix

I'm reading thru the manual on how to adjust the coil ring positions which will help my four wheel drive engage on the left side of the quad. This is the area in which the armature plate magnetizes to. The manual states that the outside rind is adjustable, the inside ring is fixed and to adjust the outer ring all I have to do is tap on the ring seal. What the blue blazes is that all about? Theres a bit of space between the two rings, I just don't think that the manual is explaining the process clear enough. Any help on this?

Problem your having here is that the manual uses two names for the same part. The sleeve seal and outer pole ring are the same thing.

So, if the outer pole ring is protruding out past the inner pole the outer pole is tapped back until it is even or 0.001" back. This adjustment should only be required if the electro magnet or the sleeve seal is replaced.

Default Four wheel drive fix

can i get any details on replacing the coil or the outer seal? My manual dosnt cover it and actually I'm thinking the manual I have is kinda slcak. I't s a Chiltons, not too detailed. I have the shock housing on my bench and have studied it carefully. I don't see any point in which all of this comes apart, it all seems to be one piece. I don.t want to have to buy everything for it, pretty much just the coil (electromagnet) Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks

I'm needing to do the same thing to my 4x4. How do I move that sleeve seal back without replacing any items. I just need to move it back. My 4x4 work but now the inner pole is too far in, it must of moved some how.
