I forgot to say "THANKS" dbeck for the great write up.

Can the RZR be equipped with other accessories such as plows for those who want a sporty machine, but also be able to clear out the driveway in style?

You're most welcome. Thank you for the compliment.

Yes, I asked Polaris about plowing with the RZR. A plow is either available now or will be soon. The engineer I spoke to said that the RZR should push a lot of snow. With our lack of snow this year, they weren't able to test in any really deep stuff. He did say, however, that the other Ranger (being a heavier machine) will be the better of the two machines for plowing.

Here in Minnesota, a lot of people also plow with a standard ATV. They work fairly well. So I would say that with the RZR weighing a 1000 plus pounds (with driver), that it should really do very well with a plow.

I hit on the performance aspects of the RZR in the review, but its also meant for serious work. Its a situation where you can justify buying the RZR for using it for work, yet you can go out on the trail and have kickass fun with it!

I hope that I didn't miss anyone's questions.

The clutching and the EFI were both worked on for the RZR. Some changes were made to the engine and transmission for mounting them in the RZR. I don't know if there was anything done specifically to up the horsepower of the engine or not. If you would like me to find out, let me know.

I recall looking at the trailer hitch. Did I make a mental note of whether it was welded or bolted? No! Darn it. But I am leaning towards saying that it was welded to the frame. I can check on that and get you a for sure answer, if you like.

My question is WHY WASN'T I INVITED FOR THE TEST SESSION DBECK!? That'd be a nice perk as a mod

If specific questions are being compiled and queryed of Polaris, please ask what the TIRE WIDTH is with the 14" wheels and tires option. Have an aluminum trailer of which the bed size is 52" x 97" The RZR appears ideal if the tire width will fit. A nice lighweight tow package. I am ready to plop down a deposit at my dealer.

I thought you guys might like to be the first people to see the Polaris Ranger RZR brochures. The left brochure shows most of the accessories.

Nuke,

The Polaris project manager said in the interview video that those tires maintain the 50" width of the RZR.

dbeck, Thanks for the comments. Another question if you will:

In regards to to AWD system, it has been mentioned by some that it doesn't fit their needs. While I personally think it's a better fir for my style of riding, I am curious as to their concern. One person specifically mentioned that because of the cold climate he lives and rides in (lot of snow), he prefers to be to engage the front wheels on his demand, in order to make sure the machine has power to the front wheels for the purpose of steering. IOW, if the rear wheels are not slipping, yet the machine is placed into a turn, the AWD system (as his theory goes) will not apply power to the front wheels, which causes a lack of directional sterring due to the front wheels not forcing the machine the intended way. Another person seemed to think that the Polaris AWD system is not as simple as rear wheel slippage, and that it might not be an issue. Do you have any data on this issue?

As I said - Personally, I think it will ft my needs better, as one thing that has always bugged me about my Rhino is having to reduce load for disengagement. But there are a few rare times where the directional/powered steering issue would be an issue.

After reviewing the brochures that dbeck posted, I see the RZR is listed as having 52hp. So it looks like I stand corrected. It is possible that this regualtion has been changed for the new year and I haven't seen this yet.

My dad recently purchased a Yamaha Rhino and while exploring the different models, I noticed that on the Polaris brochures it said the maximum allowable hp for RUV's was 40hp. I sure hope this has changed.

CurrentRvierRZR,

Boy, that is a good question. I assumed that the AWD kicked in if just one wheel (front or back) slipped.

But I tell you what, I'll give this thread a day or so for many of the questions to be posted. Then I'll consolidate the questions that I can't answer into an email and I'll email Polaris engineering and get their replies for you. I'll post their responses here.
