if your choke is out of adjustment it will do the same thing, as well as some other things in the carb

Default polaris400 problems

the carbs and plugs lost me.. when i bought mine it was new 0 miles on it, withen the first few days it started bogging out going up steep hills low or high did not matter.. i called the dealer and they said some had 172 main jets and that was to rich... they replaced that with a 167.5 main and it ran as good a lil 400 could..... i dont know if that will help at all , my dyno jet kit calls for a 132 main ,that and the air screw adjustment along withe the new nedle this thing woke up as much as a lil can ...

wow, i a 167.5 to a 132 main is a huge decrease in gas flow and a big jump in jetting. im surprised in the winter you would not have any issues w/ it running way too lean in the cold air. i guess if i were him i would want to judge by his plug if its running too rich.
