Default 2006 S.P. 450 light switch question???

I used my 450 today to go ice-fishing(still went though)and had to have the headlight switch in the off position. If I turned the lights on the quad would shut off. And if I tried starting it with the switch in the on position (hi or low) the display will not even light up with the key turned ahead??? Whats up with that!!!!! The rear lights work even the work lights will lite up when it is running but as soon as I try the high or low beam switch the quads shuts off............Any ideas.......Here is one for you Stendori......Thanks...Caper...........

why do you give all the hard ones lol. the only thing i can think of right off the top of my head is to check the voltage of the battery first. make sure its putting out the right volts. if it wasnt when th elights come on it migh tkill the engine. check the switch for corrision. seems like if it was a dead short it would blow the lights.

Here what I did so far....The lights worked last night when I loaded the quad up on the truck......It was very cold today here in Ontario Canada High for the day only reached -15 deg C going down to - 30 deg C tonight.......I had the quad on a 2 amp trickle charge since yesterday...So the battery is up.......But I did need to run the quad today with the choke open a bit to keep it at idle.......The trip out to the ice fishing hut was a bit slushy on the lake.........drove only about two miles on the trip out to the hut and back again........I thought it may be the bulb shouted out but the high beam should still work RIGHT!! I will put some heat on in the shop tomorrow and go from there........Don't have a manual for it yet......IT"S POLARIS I thought I didn't need one......At least not for a 2006 model anyway...LOL....Caper.........
