I have a 03 Sportsman 600. Should both front wheels spin freely when not in AWD. The right front wheel spins freely, but the left does not. I have taken the cv joint off and have eliminated that as a possible cause. Any help would be appreciated because i,m about to tear the whole front end apart. Does each side have these ( plastic cages) that are mentioned in many posts.

 

I would check the wheel bearings in the side that wont spin, and if you are going so far as to check them I would consider replacing them. If they have never been done it might be close to getting to be that time. You can pick up new bearings at any irrigation or bearing transmission supplier.

You may also want to check the brake rotor, it may be warped and catching on your brake pads. Your brake caliper may also be blown causing your pads to always be pushing on your brake rotor.

I would check these things first before you did a complete tear down.
