you mean stock 8"wide on front. i was refering to the highth rubbing in the fenders. you will have to get either spacers or aftermarket rims to run any thing wider then stock or it will rub. you may get away w/ 9" wide up front(some do) but its tight and easy to get something caught in between.

it really on depends on what kind of riding your going to do. the 589's are good pure mud tires and a fairly hard compound. everyone has there own perefence, i my self like my itp xtr's and i had good luck w/ the reg mudlites as well. you still may need spacers w/ 9" tires depending on what you get. you might get lucky though and dont.

This is actually for my dad. He has a 04 sportsman 700. The stock tires are pretty terrible, so he asked what he should get. We go through a good bit of nasty mud, so I think I'll tell him to go with the 589's.
I've heard that some of the more "extreme" mud tires (i.e. Vampires, Mudzillas, etc.) are dangerous because they are more likely to catch a root or something in a mudhole and cause damage to the atv. Does anyone think the 589's fall into the category. My dad is kind of scared of anything that will be too harsh on the bike.

FITSofRAGE had a set, 589's are pretty good, if I remember right, they aren't ANY good in reverse, like some others are! I agree with stendori about the "XTR's", and I think that the XTR's would be a great tire for your dad! You may notice some low end power loss with a 27. I put 27" Mudzilla's on a 800, and realized I needed a clutch kit! Since I had the kit, I went ahead and upgraded to Mudzilla 28's. Why not, right?
