Scram 500 HO Power mods
#1
New to the forum...
Just bought a scram 4x4 and it has been great. The only problem is it doesn't launch like some of the other bikes I've owned (350x worked, 400ex). Will the clutch kit really help? Will the Scram do rolling wheelies?
I keep hearing the mods don't change the performance that much?
I want to do clutch kit, pipe, airbox and jets. Do you think I will get a good percentage of gain? Where will it be Low-High?
Is HPD the best mods to buy???
Thanks for the help????

I have a 2000 scrambler 500 4x4. I have installed the following: hot seat clutch kit, K&N power kit with new jetting, fmf mega max muffler. I first put the clutch kit in and I liked it. It came off the line quicker. Then I done the jets, air filter and muffler and it made a big difference. If you get the k&n power kit the settings they recommend are way off. The hpd exhaust is supposed to be better but it is big (car muffler) and ugly. Good luck and have fun.

They tell you to turn the air fuel mixture screw out four full turns. I ended up at about 1 3/4 turns out. They also tell you to put the clip on the third notch on the needle. I think I ended up on the fourth. You are going to have to play with it. Take your plastic off the front and the gas tank. Put the kit in and with only the tank back on run it around. Then check your plug. You just have to play with it until your plug looks good at all three throttle positions.

I have a 99 4x4 with hpd exhaust aaen roller clutch a 42mm carb kn airfilter with alot of other un performance mods like a few billet covers a ftr bumper and brush guard hpd steering dampner. Also i got a high compression piston for christmas just dont have it on yet. The power gains are great in my opinion. It really likes to do power wheelies There kinda scary at first but after you learn to handle them they are great.
