(Okay I admit it this is for my selfish
benefit, well others should gain you all
insights too...eheh)

What can a 800 do so much more that a mod'ed
700 can not? Besides more cc's what is the huge
gain in spending the extra cash for the 800?

And kind you find these extra features of EBS and
ADC in the 700 class?

A modified 700 "could" crush an 800. With the 800, you already have a bigger starting platform. If you spend less to get a 700, then build it to beat a 800, you've probably spent more than you would have on the 800, and you've taken away the reliabilty of stock quad on the 700! "Reliabilty" and "high performance" are on opposites ends of a sliding scale, as you move towards one, you get less of the other!

Okay Instigater you make some good points,
BUT you know as well as I do that our 800
friends are going to Mod theirs too, that even
ups the ante abit so to speak.

Thoughts?

P.S. I really want to trade my 450 up but man
its alot of dough for me and can't really justify
the 800, I think I can do okay with an 700, any
known issues, or BUYER BEWARE that anyone can
think of?

Sure it does, I was just throwing some points out about your question, why spend more on the 800, when you could mod a 700! I've had both, they are both very powerful.

ok, heres my 800 point where you want it or not lol. the 2 main reasons i bought my 800 or a 700 was simple. 1st. is because i wanted the biggest cc and 2nd i loved the sound of the dual exhaust ovr the single. to be honest the top speed wasnt as fast as i thought it would be put there again im driving a sport machine and dont realy care about doing 70 on my 4 wheeler. i do love the raw take off power and toqure this monster puts out. R, ill warn you right now if you jump on a 7 or 800 after driving your 450 and your power hungry like we are then you'll never want to go back. ok now for handling, i can ride more aggresive w/ my wifes 450 in the trails and throw it around easier as well. no so eay on the bigger and heavier bikes. theres also the heat issues that all the twins have vs. the singles. they run alot hotter. this is my veiw on it. p.s. i forgot to mention the 3rd. reason, my buddy bought his bf 750 so i had to out do him.

Ive noticed the 800 seems to be a little more reliable than the 700. Ive heard 90% less trouble with the 800 than the 700. My Uncle has an 800, and he swears by it. My buddy has a 700, and it fell apart underneath him in a matter of months.

I have both. However, the 700 is brand new and I can't give a opinion of much value as a result. The one question I have, is by modifying a stock 700, won't you void the warranty?

Anyway, regardless of which you buy, better question for you is...who cares? And what I mean by that is, they both are fantastic machines. Both have plenty of snort. I can tell you that. You can't go wrong with either one. I just bought my 3rd Sportsman. I could have got anything I wanted. But I picked Polaris.

And as for you v2

Your not a Polaris fan as a general rule. Matter of fact, I don't think I have ever seen you have anything good to say about them. And every machine has qualities even if you don't like them. If you can't see that you have lost your ability to be objective. Which means your purchasing on emotion.

I do know that the Sportsman is most likely the toughest machine out there. It may not be the fastest, but it is very well built. So what exactly does fell apart mean? Everybody has lemons (don't think AC doesn't also...but we don't go rant and rave about them on the AC forum...thats just bad taste).

If you looked at my pics you would see i DO in fact rate Polaris just fine, as it does everything i do in the rock climbs. And i dont recall "ranting and raving". I also recall many occasions posting that Polaris has the most comfortable ride. But, enough said, ride on........

I will stay out of this one. I have a sp600 and a Honda. Needless to say I ride my Honda and the sp sits int he garage. My brother inlaw bought a sp800 about 3 months ago. It has been in the shop 2 times now for warranty. The power is awsome on the 800 and you wont find a better ride but I dont trust polaris front diffs and single lever braking. Other than that they are great quads.

All good posts, would anyone know
if the 700 can you twin it? Also, can
you get it with EBS and ADC?

Thx,
