Well CAPER, I assumed it would work. And you know what ASSuME stands for LOL LOL The way that I looked at it, was all SPs were the same other than the motor. LOL The airbox and lid have the same part numbers, just the snorkel is differant. So I ASSuMEd that the airbox would be mounted close to the same on all SP models. But on my 500, the airbox is probably 6" farther back from the fuel tank. So when the 800 snorkel went on, It would have to come out in my seat LOL There is no manipulation that could make it fit LOL But that's why these forums are here. So we can all LEARN LOL LOL

So just so I am clear, the 800 snorkel
was too short to make it going up
under the tank? OR are you saying too
long?

It was too short. It would have had to come up into my seat, not by the fuel tank. The 700/800 airbox must be closer to the fuel tank.

Speaking of airbox mods. I sometimes would get a bad engine bog shortly after I enter some mud/water. When the seat is removed, it runs strong. I reallized that steam is getting trapped under the plastic and sucked into the intake. I have taken a dremel and cut slits on both sides of the snorkle and used the wifes blow dryer to heat the plastic, then bent the plastic back and up towards the tank. The plastic that I moved will act somewhat of a shield from sucking the steam in, now the air will be sucked from the slit between the seat and plastic. Tonight will be the first time I've riden this since the little mod. If this works, I do not plan on doing a full snorkle anymore. I am never gas tank deep! I do think this will cure my engine bogging while mud boggin'! If it bogs again from steam, I will do a full snorkle and then probably rejet again.

I would be really interested in knowing
what gains or difference it makes. If its
all good, please post those pics in your
gallery so I can see how, and where you
make those slits on your snorkel.

Thanks much,

Instigator, make sure you arent getting some of that foam cushion thing infront of intake hole. I've seem it block just enough of intake to run good except when big throttle is called on. And yeah, the 500 is different than 600,700,800 intakes, but I dont see why the idea wouldnt be possible on a 500 just make an extension and caulk or hot glue the joints together.

Sorry I missed the pics, just now seeing them. Yea
I know what you mean. Yea, I don't know where you
can really do anything with it, if you were to extend
it somehow, why not just use the one you have or
mod the existing snorkel?

You did right, sell it back.

Thanks, a good thread!

No doubt this has got to work. Looking at the parts diagrams the 700 looks like you're sucking through a straw compared to the 800 snorkel. And go figure, The 800 snorkel is 1/2 the price of a 700. Interesting......
