Ya know, you live so dang close, yet I havent riden with ya yet. Why dont you come down to Fun Wheeler Park with us on Saturday Dec. 30 for the new years ride. I dont know if you stay the weekend when you go but, we just go on saturday mornings and come back that night. Anyway's can ya make it???? I think Mud Machine will be there. Come on down man, Greg Sims is holding an ATV Shoot out and I'm sure he would like an Xpedition 425 in there.

Hey, I appreciate you thinking about me, but Im not gonna be able to make it. I have 2 jobs, one of which is playing in a country band and New Years Eve is good money night soIm gonnabe"pickin and grinnin" instead of "muddin".

Im anxious to see what my Xped will do now. I just got through installin a Highlifter performance kit on it, its not even dialed in perfect yet and it screams compared to stock.

Im gonna try to go riding Mon or Tues, weather permittin, if you want to go somewhere close, let me know.

Merry Christmas

Pfelect,

Did you ever figure out what was making your bike hard to start after snorkled it? I finally finished mine and it is a mother to get started when it is cold. Also did you ever have a problem with the bike spitting gas back into the airbox at low rpm with the motor under a load? If I can figure out these problems then I will be happy for awhile until I can build a bigger motor.

Mine got easier to start after I re-did the snorkel. I went with 2" ABS pipe all the way.
Youre talking about problems while under load, mine will seem to bog down when in water and mud if Im in second gear. Ive been thinking it was simply getting traction due to the better tires, thats the way it seemed anyway. Thats the reason I went ahead and got the HP kit, which works good BTW, I appreciate your help. I rode mine for a few minutes yesterday and it still bogs down a little in the same conditions after the kit was installed. Ive never noticed but now that you mention it, my airbox usually smells like gas.
Did you have this problem before you snorkeled the bike?

I never noticed it doing it before I did the snorkle. Rode the bike today and it did not seem as bad. Just gonna have to ride it for awhile and see what happens. When the dealer opens thursday I am going to ask one of the mechanics up there and see what he thinks. If he tells me anything usefull I will let you know.

Ronnie,
Didn't the X throw up one day right as we were headed into Mocassin Slough???.. I KNOW Tracys Yamahas did it all the time, but it seems like yours did it one time for unknown reasons... I think it was hot outside and we almost got carried away by SwampSkeeters b4 we got it fired back up.. If that was your bike, I also remember there being excess fuel in the airbox......
HHHHHMMMMMMM.... Sounds like it needs more air, is there any way you can put it under a hard load with the airbox lid off????... I don't remember it boggin when I rode it thru Mary's Mudhole, but then again, we had drank a FEW beers...
Well, just a thought...

mudmachine,
this is true but that was my first attempt at a snorkle plus the exhaust was snorkled, it was runnin real rich. Since then Ive made the snorkle larger(2") and I now have the Supertrapp exhaust and silencer and the carb has been jetted. I havent had much riding time since I put the exhaust on but it did "bog down" once the other day in the same mudhole that it did before. Maybe next weekend I'll have time to test the jetting properly.
