polaris sportsman starting question
Just bought my first ATV a few days ago. A new 2006 sportsman 450. I have a question about starting it. When I start it for the first time in a day it takes 3-5 attempts to get it started. This happens no matter what position the choke is in. It is also spring here so temps have been 60-70. My question is should it start up on the first try or should it take several attempts like it is?

If your starting it with the key(battery) it should start right up...........Never did start mine with the pull starter yet!!!!!!!...........I don't even use the choke now..........You may need to check to make sure the cable is not hung open a bit causing this trouble.........That's what it sounds like to me.........Caper.......

Make sure your choke cable or in-richer some call it .....is not part way open........It should be pushed all the way in...........Just try to pull and push it and you can tell by feel if it's going all the way in and out......Start there first......Caper...........

with only 3 miles on it......I would wait an see if it is still doing this after a couple of good day rides!!!!!............I know the dealer changed over to a Champion Plug from NGK after the first 50 hour service..........He said the NGK would not hold up like the champion will......I still like NGK better.......so my next plug I may try the Factory spec. plug back in.......Caper........
