How much damage would the use of transmission fluid instead of polaris gearcase oil do? I just bought a 98 xplorer 400 used and during first ride transmision locked up. I was able to get it into low range to get out. I thought it was gear selector, but it wasn't. I took drive belt off and transmission spins feely in low and high, but not in rev. Asked previous owner what he used b/c fluid i drained was red. He said regular transmission fluid. Any suggestions about trans problem.
