On my Sportsman 335 I can only start it with the recoil. My battery will not hold a charge and with it running the volts are 7.5. I also have to push the reverse override button for reverse to work. I know the battery needs to be replaced but is it the stator that isn't working? Any input would be very helpful. I hate to throw parts at it. Thanks

 

if anything, if you know the batters bad and keep running it you are not doing your charging system any good buy trying to charge a bad batery. most likely the recifer is bad. it should be located in the front up under on the "A" frame looking part of the frame. buy a new battery and charge it. once installed then test it to see whatthe volts are. should be 13.5 plus.
