Glad I could help. I'm not sure why there is such a discrepancy in prices, but I know JD Green just raped me on a hydraulic pump for my Backhoe

Well I have to give a big thank you to all the added info, I'm sure it will end up helping alot of people.

I ordered the parts monday and I picked them up today.

The cage is alot more beefie then the old white plastic one it replaces and the rollers a little longer as well, but all in all good looking parts.

So anyways I looked at this job again and said to myself that I really think It could be done with out dropping the ball joints, and with a little jiggeling ,Out it came the whole front diff and all axles where left in the bike.

Total time for completion 28 minutes.

I took it for a test drive and it works like a new one again, glad to have it back to all wheel drive.

If anyone wants any advice doing this replacement, pm me and I will do all I can to help .

Cliff

Oh and if anyone needs a stator plate let me know the kit comes with one and I have a few extra..

Dusty:

Will the JD parts work on a 02 700? I've just started having this problem and from the other posts pretty much determined my cage is broken.

If they will fit could someone post the partnumbers for the JD parts on this site. I'm running through a web filter that won't let me access the highlifter forum with the part numbers.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If the 02 700 is the same as the 04 700 then it should, on the other forum he said that he took an 04 700 apart and it was the same plate so I would be pretty confident that the parts would be the same.

Roller Kit-MIA 10666- Identical Match
Cage Kit-MIA10667(Slightly longer, black plastic cage, springs and wear plate)
Total for the 2 kits with tax $91.95. Each kit took approx 2-3 days to come in. Sure beats $330 + shipping from Polaris.
I ALSO GOT THE SEAL KIT FROM JOHN DEERE PART # MIA10654 COST 12.35

The roller cage is in the front "differential" of the newer polaris awd systems. I believe they started with some models in 02 and by 05 all had it. It replaced the hub style engagement I think you have in your magnum. you can get info on the "differential" at http://www.hilliardcorp.com/view.php?id=FDS-1

the reason I quote differential is there is some debate about it, since it does not actually differentiate speed, but Hilliard uses the term, so I guess it is ok.

If you search for AWD problems you will find quite a bit of info on it as it is not uncommon to have problems with it, however I am fairly confident it doesn't apply to your machine.

Just wanted to let you know I installed the John Deere parts last weekend and it works perfect. When I dissasmebled mine I found the thrust bearing between the two asles was bent and missing rollers so I replaced that as well from JD. and it works perfect. Set me back $95 bucks total shipped to my door.

Way cheaper than polaris, and deffinately works. Thanks to whoever originally discovered this!!!
