Hi everyone I have a 2006 500 sportsman efi and for some time now it has been running like crap. once the engine is hot it sputters at low speeds and had even stalled a couple of times. Now it is even worse it won't even idle but if I ever so slitly touch the throttle it is enough to keep it ideling. It has been back firing like crazy now and stalling at about half speed now.

Please help! I am going to lose it.

I have been told it just needs a computer up date could this be true.
I have a dealer checking for any recalls right now

Hey dre900, sounds like the same problems I was having with mine, the dealer had it for a month before they finally figured out what was wrong with it, all it needed done was for it to be reflashed. I would try getting that done and go from there.

 

Mine did the same thing and there was a connection under the seat that the wires were loose and had to be soldered, took forever for the dealer to figure out

 

I just had a post with mine doing some sputting and spitting then dying... brought it to my dealer and he went right for the 'map sensor' under the seat, he said its a known issue but no recall on it.

I just have mine at he dealer for month and they reflashed and it work good for a day and then I took it the lake this past weekend and it started acting up again. This time however it would only act up, spit and sputter when the engine would get warm. Then it wouldn't idle properly either. I would let it cool down and then it would be fine till it got warm again. Sometimes it won't even start after it is warm and shuts off by itself. Taking it back to the dealer this Wednesday to let them check the wires under the seat, and the throttle body cable.

 

mine was in the map sensor as well
