welcome to the forum. what makes you think the water pump was bad. how long does it take to over heat? did you make 100% sure the raditaor isnt plugged on front and back? is the fan working? is the temostat sticking closed? you have air in the system? just a few questions that need to be anwsered.

the guy that the people we bought it from said the impeller was bad
that is why we replaced it. It takes about 5-10 minutes to overheat, the
radiator hoses are not plugged and the fan is working. Not sure if there
is air in the system but don't think so and that we didn't think there
is a thermostat on the bike. Where would the thermostat be located at on
the engine.

I have a 94-400L 4x4 and the air vent for the coolant is on the top of the cylinder head right where the coolant hose enters the head. Loosen screw until coolant comes out.

when this overheats is it spitting coolant out the resior tank? i ment the radaitor fins where the air goes thru being full of mud as its a very commen problem. yea i checked and couldnt find a thermostat so i can that rules that out. lol.is the temp switch in the top of the radaitor plugged in and working? this tells the fan to kick on and off.

Do you suggest i need to replace the whole water pump. I replaced the impellar already but the dang thing is overheating on me and im attempting to loosen the air vent as suggested. Im at a loss here and this is making me frustrated trying to work on this. I havent had a four wheeler before and to me trying to fix some of these things is driving me crazy.

If you havent bled the system with the small bolt on the head it will heat up in a hurry.
On the part ussually if the impeller is bad so is the housing where it runs along with the counter balance.these old liquid cooled Polaris can get deep into your pockets.
