has anyone in here put a roller clutch on a scrambler 500? if so is it worth the money?

 

The helix is on rollers which produces less friction and equals more power by providing better up shifts and down shifts.
Its worth every penny to put in your scrambler, look at AAen's roller clutch thier suppose to have the best out right now.

I too had posted about roller clutch for my 2000 SP but did not get an affirmative answer. After all of the friction losses I've read about, I want one, but none of the companies has replied to me because I've got the EBS on my quad. So if any of you aftermarket experts out there wish to share some knowledge, I'd love to hear from you too.

 

The roller will not work with the EBS.

 

Thanks for telling me that, now I know I'm looking for something that does not exist. Funny though, in todays age of technology and machinery advances, why this simplistic technology cannot be applied. Whoops, does this mean I'm gonna have to transplant a ruby motor/trans into an SP frame to develop my dream quad? I think the only place the SP needs help is motor/trans, but thats pretty important unless I live on a hill and rely on gravity and a ski-tow to get me back home.

 

It's funny, but most don't realize that engine braking is still about 60% of what you get with ebs with a roller clutch. In fact, I hated EBS so much I changed both the drive and driven clutches so I could go with a roller setup. Once you run a correctly tuned roller clutch on a Polaris, you can't go back to a normal clutch setup. You get spoiled.

 

Okay Jack, maybe I'm suffering a little too much New Years bliss, but could you give us a little run-down on what a complete change over as you have described would entail? I am willing to go the distance on improving the clutching on my SP 500 that has EBS, which I like. Does your system still have some sort of engine braking that saves me alot of brake pads? What would the cost be of a complete change-over to your system? I think thats what I have been looking for all the time. Or a recommendation of clutching parts that would work in accordance to the upgrade.

 

Properly tuned= tuned to your specific motor.

Clutch tuning should be different in everybody's case, depending the performance of your machine and your individual riding preference. Even with equally modified machines two people may not always get the best results with the same clutch settings.

 

I have been told that the Hot Seat roller clutch will work with EBS. I haven't confirmed that yet, but I will try to find out soon. I want to put one on my Magnum.
