2001 Polaris Scrambler Won't Engage Into 4WD
#22
Is it possible the noise is the brake pads moving on the caliper pins and "clicking"? I've heard that a bunch before.
Looking at the wiring diagram it appears the light doesn't affect the 4wd operation. It has it's own path and so do the AWD hubs. We need to know if there is voltage going to the switch, through the switch and to the hubs.
I'm leaving tomorrow for 10 days so I hope you can get this figured out. If not, send me a pm and I'll help more when I get back. Elk hunting!!!! Woohooo!

Well I looked at everything today. I drained both of the hubs, cleaned them out really well, and added fresh ATF. I checked all the wires and connections and cleaned them. Still no luck. Then I took the 4x4 switch apart and found what the problem was!!!! I couldn't believe it, but there was a spider web behind the switch and it was making it so there was no contact. I cleaned it out really well, put it back together, and now it works perfectly! Go figure. It's always the easy stuff. Thanks for everyone's help and have a good trip 94harley!

I jacked it up today and played around with it. Sometimes it will engage into AWD and back out of it as it should. Sometimes it will not engage when I flip the switch to AWD (and the light will not light up), and sometimes it will randomly engage into AWD while the switch is off with a clunk. When it does engage, both front wheels to spin as they are supposed to. I noticed that the two front bolts are missing from the front gear case. This causes the gear case to move back and forth when it is AWD. Could this be the problem?
