Default 2001 sportsman rear axles

I have been working on this for days. I can't seem to get the old axles out. Getting them out of the hubs was simple. Its removing them from the differential that I can't seem to do. There has to be a way to remove them without taking the whole gearbox or differential or whatever assembly apart. PLEASE PELASE let me know what yall have done.

Thanks,
Chance

ok here are some pics of what i'm trying to get off, and one of the new part. All I've found is that you can yank them off or use a prybar but i've tried it and i'm getting nothing...

welcome to the forum and the dreaded cv pain. beleave it or not when you look at the new one in your picture you see the little "c" snap ring on the threaded spine, that is the only thing holding it in besides it being an 01' and has rust or corrison. if you can spray any kind of penetracting lube on it like pb blaster works good and if it can some how soak into the spine area(not sure you can get to it) and it NOT so simpley snaps out. some times i use a pry bar behind it as i snap it being carfeful not to break the alum. hosuing. others have had to use a slide hammer set up winch works goos i would guess. good luck oh and just prying on it really doesnt work good either.

yea i guess its just something i have to work and work and work and work and work and work at i've tried all kinds of stuff but maybe trying to get some lube in there will help, i can't believe some of the things i've tried didn't break that little ring! i'm half tempted to hook it to my truck and yank it out!

Use a pry bar on each side and rock the shaft back and forth. Unless the shaft is rusted solid this should get it out. Make sure the pry bars are against a bolt and not the case. Good luck.

In your pictures it does look a little dry, penetrating oil will help.
