Default About to order some stuff for my Pred 90...

I'm about to grab some new stuff for my 2003 predator 90 but first I need to know how I can figure out what CDI box I have on mine now. Someone had this quad before me and put some upgrades on it and I'm not about to spend 100 dollars on something I already have so if someone could tell me how to find out if my CDI is stock or not that would be great.

I feel pretty stupid for asking this, but.... is that my CDI box right there?

Alright...still no answers. Sorry for the double post but I really need to know by tonight. Is it even safe for me to get a higher rev limiter?

Thank you. Can you tell me where the CDI box is?

EDIT: Wait no, is it even worth doing it if I'm not going to buy a clutch kit?

What exactly are you planning on doing and who are you getting it from?

The stock CDI is above the front left shock mount up towards the handlebars. It is black and measures 3 1/4" Long X 1 1/2" Wide X 1" thick. It has 5 single wires coming out of it and 2 wires on a female plug.

I highly suggest the clutch kit though.

The aftermarket CDI does not have a rev limiter in reverse while the stock CDI has a reverse rev limiter. Does it sound like it "sputters" when in reverse.

Edit: Never mind, just remembered that I do not think the 2003 has reverse.

The guy who had it before me is cool with my stepdad and said he already put new pipes on there, I'm getting the 90cc K&N Filter, the 90cc Performance Coil (I'm curious to see if that will actually do anything) and I was thinking about getting the Predator 90 Hi-Rev CDI Box all from Hot Seat Performance. I don't want to do it if this wont do anything for my quad though, so I asked you guys first to see if this is even worth it. And you're right, the 2003 doesn't have reverse. Thanks for your reply.

If you have a good aftermarket pipe on there then a new CDI is a must. With a pipe/filter you will hit the stock rev limiter too soon. I would seriously think about the clutch kit also though. It made quite a bit of difference on ours. Hetrickracing also offers quite a bit of products for the Predator 90, including the clutch kits.

It should be easy to tell if you have an aftermarket pipe. The stock pipe will have the same diameter header all the way to the muffler, while an aftermarket pipe will have a "bulged" area somewhere before the muffler

Wont I end up destroying my engine with unlimited RPMs though? I really appreciate your help.
