I installed a Dalton clutch kit to my 700 efi last night. Anyone know what the rpm engagement should be? It engages at around 1700 -1800 rpm's. And the belt housing seems a bit warmer than usual. Defintely noticed a quicker pick up. Just want to be sure before I give itt he real test.
Thanks

Not sure on the warmer part but that sounds about right for engagement. I'm getting ready to put a clutch kit on my 700efi this weekend if it gets delivered today and I find out how you removed your clutches. Did you buy the tool to remove your clutch or did you come up with a way to remove it yourself? It would help me out if you told me how you put your clutch on also. I'm glad to hear you could feel a difference in yours. I'm going to 27-589s and the EPI clutch Kit. I've had oversized tires on my efi since it was new so it may be a different feel to me.

depending on the dalton spring it would raise stock engagement by 5 to 700 rpms. at least on my 06' 800 it did. unless you need to chnage anything in the spider for the 700 you can just pull the cover off to put the new weights and spring in and dont need to pull the clutch off (primary clutch). secondary just slide off w/ the bolt taken off. i dont beleave the belt housing should be getting hotter unless your driving real slow(under 7 mph) in high. the enigne isnt turning high enough rpms to keeo the belt cool.

Thanks I feel better. First time I dabbled in clutching. It is pretty sraight forward. I did remove the primary with a puller but you should be able to change the weights and spring by just removing the cover. The secondary slid off once the bolt broke free (impact gun). A press is helpfull to compress the new spring. I went withthe orange / blue spring onthe primary. jaimie - I think you will be very happy with the upgrade escpecially with the over sized tires. The front end will lift and more so in low gear ( I know thats not what these bikes are for). A wise upgrade. Thanks for the input.

RodE today without the clutch kit. I could tell a bit of difference with the 27's when lugging around. I'm going to try and install kit tomorrow. I did however read the the EPI clutch kit that I bought has 2 different engagement springs. One that's good for 2400rpms and the other is 300-400 less. I'm going to go with the lesser due to rock crawling and stuff here in WV. I'd hate to roll it when I bumped the gas too hard.

The Clutch is supposed to engage at 600rpm? Its not in high but low is around 500 Any suggestions?</end quote></div>
i mean it should raise it 600 more rpms higher than stock. you dont want it too high in bad trails as you are just tring to crawl.
