Can you fit any other year rear racks on a 2004 500 H.O? I am in need of one and want to buy one for half the price on ebay instead of paying 135.00 for one. Does anyone have one?

 

The part number for your rack (2632837-070) is unique to that year. Don't think other years will work.

 

i wonder why it only goes for that one year? most of the racks will fit on same generation of bikes in that era i thought.

 

I know. Puzzled me too. It might be one of those crazy situations where the same part has several different numbers.

 

sorry, I was thinking rack extender

 

I used one of the older rack extensions and it fit, not as wide though. I put that one on my wife's 500 as it has the rear seat and it fit the seat better. I put the newer rack extender on mine which is wider and allows me to use the Lock & Ride box. The two use different mounting holes, but they both fit the rack.

 

2632837-070 Asm., Rack, Rear [Incl. Warning is the right pn# and will only fit on 04' 500 & 400 sportsman according polaris. by looking atthe differnt pn#s the rack extenions are differnt say from 03' to 04' so yours wouldnt fit the older year. but the frame piece which the rack bolts onto is the same between 03' and 04' so guessing the rack would bolt up but the extenion wouldnt. go figure. just some info for ya.

 

I'm a new member, just browsing the forum. I just bought an '03 rear rack for my '08 500. It is narrower like Y-Guy posted but does mount up O.K. I didn't care for the taller rack, the older ones are 3.5" tall. I was wondering If anybody knows if an older front rack would work? I would like a 3.5" tall front rack like my old '04 700.
