I BOUGHT ONE FOR A 2006 HAWK EYE FOR MY 2008 SPORTSMAN 400 HO.

MOUNTING IT IS NOT POSSIABLE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RID OF YOUR RADIATOR GUARD.

ALSO YOU WILL HAVE TO MODIFIY THE FRAME TO MOUNT THE BRACKETS.

THE BRACKETS MOUNT FROM THE INSIDE OF THE FRAME. YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE A TRU HOLE IN ORDER FOR TO WORK. AGAIN YOU LOSE YOUR RADIATOR GUARD.

I TOOK IT MINE BACK AND TOLD THEM THE DEAL. LOOKING INTO IT A LITTLE MORE THERE IS 2ND PART NUMBER (SAME DESIGN) FOR THE DELUXE BRUSH GUARD. THE ONE I ORDERED IS SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 2008 SPORTSMAN....I HOPE...

GETTING IT TODAY.

Cowdog,

I had a 2007 Hawkeye that I traded for a 2008 sportsman 400 HO. I put the deluxe krinkle finish front bumper from my hawkeye on the sportsman. When I bought the bumper it had 2 sets of bolts. One for the hawkeye and one for the sportsman. The hawkeye application used through bolts to attach the brackets. The sportsman application used self tapping bolts, that bolted through the same holes as the radiator guard. The self tapping bolts were longer. I have a winch on the sportsman, I had to put the bumper brackets inbetween the radiator guard and the winch mount using the supplied self tapping bolts.

I hope this helps.

Jokout,
I have the stock tires, I think they are 24". I haven't been able to trail ride yet, just some riding around the neighborhood. What I have decided so far is the 400 has a ton more power. I'm glad I traded. I will let you know more info, as I have more time to ride.

thanks Blue, they just seem to look much bigger in your pics, keep us updated on your impressions of the 400. I am in the process of adding a second ride and am very interested in what you think of the bigger power in the midsize frame!
