Default 01 Magnum AWD problem

First off, I have been searching this forum for the last 3 days, and I must say it is very informative. I'm somewhat of a forum junkie, so I had to join up....

Anyways, this is my first Polaris, although my father inlaw gave us his 02 Magnum for the summer last year, so I am very familiar with it. I just bought this bike from a friend, and the awd isn't working. He thought it was the switch, but I swapped the one off my father in laws identical machine, and still nothing. The awd light isn't working on mine, but it is with his switch hooked up. After reading a ton of topics on this, and studied wiring diagrams for it, here is what I have discovered:
it's not the switch, the trans switches work correctly (neutral/reverse lights work properly) override button does what it should. I have power to each connector for the hubs when awd switch is on, and I have confirmed no breaks in the hub wires, at least down to where they go into the strut. The thing is, when I check the coils for resistance (24ohms) I have nothing. on both hubs. What does this mean? Are the coils gone? armature plate? Is it likely that both of these would be bad?? oh, and how much will this cost me????

I know I read somewhere about the coil resistance, but can't find it now for the life of me. Thanks for your help

If there's no resistance, there's no connection at all being made. That's all I know.

If you have power where the coils plug into circuit board then its probably the coils or broken wires to the coils, if you take the hub off you can activate the awd and turn the switch on and see if the coils are working , they should magnetize and pull the armature pllate tight against them, you might find another problem when you take it apart, inspect the hilliard clutches carefully, do yo have a manual? they explain things very well. The coils are like $80 each
