Sportsman 500 HO vs 500 X2
I'm new to quads. I just bought a (disposable) cheap chinese 110cc quad for my kids who are 6 and 8 years old. THEY LOVE IT!!
I'm now looking for something that I can take on the trails with them. My thinking is that one of my children could ride the 110cc and I would take the other on my own quad.
I have an offer to purchase a brand new 2008 sportsman 500 non-EFI for $4999. I can get the two-up x2 EFI version for $7999. That's a HUGE price difference.
I figured I could purchase the lower costing quad and just have two on it even though it's not meant specifically for this purpose. I would not be riding insane with a child on the quad anyways, so I'm not so sure if an X2 is worth the extra $3000. Hell I could buy ANOTHER quad for that money!
Has anyone else been in this situation? What are your thoughts? What about resale value of each?

It's more than just being legal, in most states riding two on a quad for one will get you a ticket. The two up quads have a longer wheelbase moving the rider over and in front of the rear wheels. The difference in stability is tremendous. My worst fear is having my quad go over backwards on a hill with one of my grandkids on the back, with the quad at almost 900 lbs the outcome would be a nitemere. I'd pay the extra just so I wouldn't have to second guess my desision if the worst case happened.

Could you share that with me either here or in email (drew4justice@yahoo.com)?
It's about a $500 difference from what I found it for, which would be about the cost of shipping. If I could save the tax and have it shipped, that would be nice. What do you think?
Unless.. your dealer wont ship.. but I could try to talk about it with them..
EDIT: --- I just found it!! http://www.oodle.com/detail/20...874971423/goldsboronc/

Yep that is them. They seem to be great guys, a family run business. No hidden fees when I bought mine from them.

Around here everyone who doubles uses the back passengers seats on the rear racks. If the H.O is going to flip backwards on a hill than the hill is to dangerous for ANY ATV with a child on board period.
$3000 just seems a bit much for two ATVs that are essentially the same machine except one has a longer wheel base.
