So, with my 08 sportsman 500 EFI the "HOTT" and "CHECK ENGINE" was blinking after riding about 25 miles. i hit a few mud pits but shut it down right away for about 15 mins. then on my way i noticed on the screen. i did the right break in process and everything. i washed out my radiator do you think that was just it? and my fan wasnt kicking on also?? just checking here

 

check the coolant to make sure its where its suppose to be in the coolant tank(the one you can see will the full and add on it) and its not empty and has air in it. also take a light and hold it on the back side of the radaitor to see if you can see light thru it at least 80% of it to know that its not plugged. w/ the key on unplug the wires on the sensor to see if the fan comes on to make sure its not a fan issue. if the bike sits there and idles for a while down the fan cycle on? just a couple of idears.
